~Easter Brunch!~

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter Sunday!  We went to my Mother's house and had Easter Brunch!  My brother, who is a chef, went all out.  He had five different kinds of omelets, loaded hash browns, bacon, ham, Belgium waffles, and about five different fresh fruit toppings. Breakfast was not meant to taste this good!

After our brunch we all went swimming. The weather was absolutely beautiful, although the water was extremely cold! My five-year-old nephew loved it though. My son had a great time as well. This was the first time he had actually been in a real pool!  Over all this Easter was very enjoyable. Can't wait for the next!

~Book Review Friday #1~

Today’s book review is very special. Not only is it my first book review on this site, but it is also a book from one of my all-time favorite series! I started reading the series shortly after I read the Twilight series, by Stephanie Meyers. Before twilight, I had only read romance novels. Except the occasional paranormal that was written by author Nora Roberts. So after I was done with Twilight I was sucked in. Sucked into this paranormal/vampire life.

So after searching for a good paranormal series to start reading, I found a book called “Halfway to the Grave,” by Jeaniene Frost. Here is my review of that book.

Title: Halfway to the Grave
ISBN: 0061245089 (ISBN13: 9780061245084)
Series: Night Huntress #1
Published: 2007

Summary from Goodreads:
Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father—the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unholy partnership.
In exchange for finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner—are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn't have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her newfound status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side . . . and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.

What I thought:
I enjoyed this book a lot. Jeaniene Frost is one of those authors that you start reading their book and somehow you forget where and when you are. Next thing you know it is four in the morning and your husband’s work alarm is going off.

This series has some very strong characters.  From the first scene in the book you just know Cat is not one to mess around with. She is very blunt and never holds back her intentions or thoughts. The story follows her as she sets out to destroy all vampires that are stupid enough to get in her path. She has no mercy, if you are a vampire, she will hunt to kill you. The way she uses her sex appeal to lure these unknowing vampires is inspiring. The fact that she is half human/half vampire (very uncommon) makes her a force to reckon with.

That is until she comes across Bones. A sexy vampire that, little does Cat know, is also master vampire. The book really gets good when these two fight. The chemistry between the two of them is apparent from the moment they start talking. I love the conversations they have. You don’t know when they are really arguing or when they are flirting.

After meeting Bone’s Cat soon realizes that she doesn’t know too much about the vampire race, and Bones sets out to train her and teach her all there is to know.  Bones also sets out to help Cat find her scummy vampire father.

Cat and Bones continue their love/hate relationship for a while and in between spats they find some time to fight some bad guys together. If you love a little of action mixed in with your hot steamy romance than this is the series for you. Bone’s accent also makes for a great comic relief. This book grabs you and leaves you wanting more of Cat and Bones. Lucky for us there are currently five books in the Night Huntress series!  And, according to the Jeaniene Frost web site there is three more to go in the series!  I am excited to hear that there is more. This is a series that will have you marking your calendar till the next book comes out!

Would I recommend this to my friends and family?  DEFINATLY YES!

~Family Day Out~

Today my husband, son and I went to Fountain Hills Park to have a little "picnic". We had such a great time! The temperature was a little warm but with the nice breeze it made it perfect. We brought a blanket, a little travel grill and set up under a tree right next to the lake. My son absolutely loved being outside and was all smiles the whole time. We fed the ducks and even managed to go find a Geo - cache that was nearby.

I really hope we can keep doing stuff like this. My husband had mentioned that he never really went and had picnics when he was younger and I think I can count with one hand how many times I did.

I think it is so important to do things together as a family outside of the home. It just seems when we are out in nature breathing in the fresh air all of our troubles seem so far away.

~Blog Carnival!~

Sounds really cool right?  Well that is what I thought when I saw the idea so I looked into it more.  A blog carnival is similar to a blog party. The difference is, while a blog party links a bunch of different blogs with different topics, a blog carnival has a list of posts about a specific topic at different blogs. So say the topic of the carnival is "Why you home-school your children". The blog host either goes out looking for blog posts about that topic or different blog owners "submit" their post.

So after reading about Blog Carnivals and visiting a bunch of them, I have decided that I am going to attempt to host my very own BLOG CARNIVAL!!  I don't know the specifics as of yet but I thought I would put this out there for my followers.

Like blog parties this will be a great way to get more traffic to your site. I will also post the topic ahead of time so if you don't have a post already in your blog on that subject, you can create one! If you don't want to submit a post for the Blog Carnival, still join us!  It will be a great opportunity to get different views and opinions on a specific topic!

Speaking of specific topics...this is where I am going to ask you to help me a bit.  Please comment on this post and tell me what you think would be a great first "Blog Carnival" topic! I will be following this post soon with a specific announcement with dates and topics!  Hope you all will join me! And spread the word!
